Crown Resources buys 154 acres of Okanogan National Forest (Buckhorn Mountain) for $5 per acre

Read press realeases from the mining industry:

Taking advantage of the outdated 1872 Mining Law, Crown Resources purchased 154 acres of Buckhorn Mountain. This patenting process, referred to as "The Great Terrain Robbery" allowed Crown to pay $5 per acre for this public land. The ongoing policy that gives away our National Forest land to international mining companies amounts to corporate welfare. Ultimately, the public gets the shaft as the Bush Administration Privatizes Public land on Buckhorn Mountain for a proposed underground gold mine. It is interesting to note the spin put on this transaction by industry. (see links above)
